Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) India and the Power & Energy Society (PES) of IEEE are jointly instituting the IEEE PES India Scholarship Award (IPISA) starting from the academic year of 2015-16. The main aim of the award scheme is to attract the talented and meritorious students to electrical engineering stream by extending the scholarship to toppers in the pre-engineering qualifying examinations. Once awarded, the scholarships would be continued on an annual basis till the final year program of professional degree in Electrical engineering stream subject to further qualifying requirements. These bright and budding engineers would be groomed to take up the challenging job of manning the complex power system that is emerging in India with the ever increasing power demand and massive technology induction like solar power, smart grids etc.
Recognizing that the role of faculty mentor is a very important part of an engineering student’s education, the IPISA scheme proposes to assign a mentor to each of the scholarship awardees while pursuing his/her UG course. As you would agree, the mentor/student relationship has many facets. Among these is guidance as to the values and practices of the electrical engineering discipline, lessons in professionalism and encouragement & criticism in the search for knowledge.
We expect that a mentor would be a guide to the student, able to identify research problems, impart communication & presentation skills and above all, a role model in setting the standard for professionalism and ethical behavior. At the end of this program, the student on his part would be a contributor himself, self motivated to complete the degree requirements in a timely fashion.
If you feel that you can support this noble cause, apply to be the mentor sending the following details:
